My warning policy

I am not, as a general rule, particularly stringent on warnings, but I do want to establish a clear and consistent policy about what I warn for, so here goes.

I WARN FOR:

  • rape, sexual violence, and sexual assault, unless the title of whatever I’m reblogging already indicates the presence of those things, in which case a warning is redundant
  • graphic violence, which I am hereby defining as “detailed depictions of wounds big enough to require sutures, or stuff involving eyes.” In fact, the stuff involving eyes probably gets a separate warning entirely, because EW STUFF INVOLVING EYES EW.
  • if I’m crossposting fic, I’ll add content notes explaining the rating of the fic in question (and pointing out things like consent issues, drug use, kinks, the aforementioned sexual-or-otherwise violence, etc.)

I DON’T WARN FOR:

  • depictions of sex, graphic or otherwise, nudity, or anything in-between. I’ll generally slap a #nsfw tag on those posts, but assume that this tumblr is not safe for work. This applies to both written and visual content, by the way.
  • blood and brawling, unless the violence gets graphic.
  • racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic/etc. language, or other displays of various *isms. If I’m reblogging something that contains that kind of content, it’s pretty much always in a “whoa this shit is not okay” or a “hey guys let’s pay attention to/do something about this” context — generally the latter, since I don’t like reblogging things I find appalling unless there’s some kind of constructive action I can take about them.
  • language. As a general heads-up, I use the word “fuck” the way some people use the word “like.”

I think that should about cover it. If you want to know my warning policy about something I haven’t mentioned here, message me and I’ll add it to this list. I’ll also provide a link to this post on the front page of my blog.
