I’m tired of fandom hating awesome women. Aren’t you? It’s time to show the haters how we appreciate the women and that fandom doesn’t have to be a place full of hatred. So I propose ONE WEEK DEDICATED TO WOMEN THE FANDOM HATES. Fest of love! Some details, I suppose, are needed.
WE LOVE THE WOMEN THAT THE FANDOM HATES1) You choose one fictional woman that you love and against whom, at one point or another, you felt fandom hatred. It doesn’t have to be a woman that majority of fans hates (Ginny Weasley, Susan Pevensie, Bela Talbot). It is enough if you read somewhere that she deserves to die because she kissed that guy and not another (Elena Gilbert) or that that bitch tries to act like a man (Kara Thrace). The sad truth is that, probably, every woman in any fandom will pass that criteria.
2) Every day of the week we write on our site something related to one particular character we choose. It doesn’t have to be a comprehensive meta (although that is welcomed, of course). There is a poem that you associate with the character? Post it! A song? A quote perhaps? You can do graphics, picspams, write fics, anything that you like, as long as you show how much you love them. It’s up to you.I signed up for Vriska! I have… a lot of feelings about Vriska Serket that other people have probably stated more elegantly and eloquently than me but that I want to get out nonetheless.

I wish I actually had managed to sneak my claim in yesterday before this exploded. But then I remembered how much I grind my teeth when I see how Katniss’s PTSD gets treated by the fandom — particularly in Mockingjay — versus how Peeta’s gets treated, and I have heard reports of “emotionless murderous sociopath” being flung at her as a descriptor.
So yeah. Get ready for a week of Why Katniss Everdeen Is Awesome And You Should Respect.
