I wish the folks who made the merchandise for all the Type Moon stuff knew about all the Saber/Lancer love, especially for Fate/Zero Lancer, because I think maybe the only merch with him is a mug.

Well, Megahouse just came out with a F/z!Lancer figurine that provides, ahem, generous detail to his crotch area, but I don’t know if there’s more than that and the mug. Any other Fate or TYPE-MOON fans know about Lancer merch?

(I mean, no one will ever have as much merch as Saber, but.)

• when or if I started shipping it. From their first fight, man. Banter! Mutual respect and enjoyment! Compliments! That shot of Lancer’s hands as he tries to fight off Kayneth’s Command Spell, where you can see all the tension in them.
• my thoughts: I SHIP IT LIKE THE FUCKING ENTERPRISE. They have delicious worthy adversary tension backed by mutual respect and even trust, and seriously, he has the biggest crush on her. The very biggest. And just — she’s the kind of king he could devote himself to gladly and serve with honor, and I think both of them know that on some level. They share a lot of the same ideals, after all. And while I do think that Saber having to question those ideals over the course of F/z is important, I think that Lancer can show her that she can still inspire people to dream. (And Lancer treats her with about a million times more respect than the other dudes who get shipped with Saber do, just saying.)
• What makes me happy about them: See above paragraph. Also, how much they genuinely enjoy fighting with and alongside each other, and how happy and fulfilled it makes them in the middle of the Awful that is the rest of the Grail War. And god, the moment where Lancer breaks Gae Buidhe without a second thought so Saber can defeat Caster. And then she fights him without using her left hand, so they can continue their battle where they left off. ;___; 
• What makes me sad about them: Kiritsugu, you dickbag, all Lancer wanted was an honorable match with Saber. But noooo, you had to start the tradition of Lancers running themselves through. Lancer’s death is basically a nonstop series of heartpunches for me, because all he wants to do is serve faithfully and well, but history starts to repeat itself and no matter how hard he tries, he can’t stop it. So he clings to his honor with all of his might and his relationship with Saber — and their match — is a way for him to feel like he still has it, like he really can stay true to this code that’s such an important part of how he tries to lead his life. And then that last hope’s taken away from him, too. Poor baby. Goddamnit, Urobuchi.
• things done in fanfic that annoys me: I don’t know if I’ve read all that much fic for them, really, but I’ve seen a few pics where Saber is all blushu blushu around Lancer and that makes possibly even less sense to me than Saber getting all blushu blushu around Gilgamesh.
• things I look for in fanfic: On the other hand, I do like that a substantial portion of pixiv enjoys drawing Saber carrying Lancer bridal-style. He does make a very good wife.
• Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I’m also on board the good ships Saber/Irisviel and Saber/Rin, and kind of hnnngh madly at the thought of Saber/Fsn!Archer. Lancer’s a bit trickier, but I do want the fic with Cu Chulainn and Diarmuid bro-ing it up.
• My happily ever after for them: How about the AU where he becomes her Servant I still want that like whoa
• what is their favorite non-sexual activity: …does fighting count as nonsexual for these two?

It wouldn’t surprise Diarmuid at all. She offers her hand to him, her fingers brushing his lips, and he presses kisses to each of her knuckles in turn, slow and reverent. He’ll not waste a moment of this, not leave any part of her palm untouched or her fingers untasted.
